Like many of you, I can’t help but feel anxious, angry, and sad witnessing a number of hate crimes against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. This kind of violence and animosity has no place in our communities—and yet, it’s on the rise across our country.

From last week’s incidences in the Bay Area to what transpired last Tuesday, March 16, in Atlanta, GA, hate crimes continue to multiply and have tragically resulted in the loss of lives.

According to one article, hate crimes against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community have been on the rise since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. A detailed report released by Stop AAPI Hate revealed that there were at least 3,795 hate incidents targeting the AAPI community from March 19, 2020, to Feb. 28, 2021. More than 500 of those incidents occurred in just 2021.

Racism continues to affect us as Americans, fueling hatred and violence, especially toward minorities.

…we NEED to also say that we will stop radicalized white supremacy by holding the oppressors accountable.
